BBS Transforms External Landscape of Icon Armstrong Building At Newcastle University
As the oldest building on Newcastle University's campus, The Armstrong Building has an iconic status. Grade II listed and steeped in history.
Following a £25m regeneration project that has seen this historic building redeveloped to provide high quality teaching rooms, social and learning facilities and staff accommodation, BBS was tasked to supply a product that would transform the external landscape around the building and complement the traditional stone facade of the area. The Armstrong Building has now been restored to it's former glory and established as the ceremonial home of the University.
The stone needed to accommodate the architect's complex design brief, which comprised a random pattern that perfectly fitted into the landscape of the University campus.
BBS supplied 1800m2 of Westfield Buff Yorkstone paving and Setts - perfect for its hardwearing properties and ability to be tailored to sizes that were unique to this project.
