Whitehall Walkway Refurbishment
Published 19th August 2013In 2008 Whitehall underwent a walkway refurbishment with natural stone being the material of choice. In conjunction with J. Murphy, BBS supplied the granite and sandstone materials for this prestigious scheme. The choice of the two colour sandstone was to complement the existing London pallet, with the G603 granite kerbs being laid to match the accepted and approved kerbs supplied throughout the London streetscape scene.
The brief for this project was direct and unambiguous; quality materials were to be installed and completed in time for Her Majesty The Queen to lead The Service of Remembrance on Sunday 9th November at The Cenotaph.
Using Chinese Silver Grey G603 granite kerbs, along with indigenous two colour sandstone the scheme was duly completed on time with all quality requirements achieved. The scheme took in Horse guards’ parade, Downing Street and Parliament Square. Towards the end of the contract the sandstone was sealed to bring out the colours using a water based Eco Toner available through BBS.
Our indigenous sandstone ranges can be complimented with our new imported two colour sandstone. This material has been UK tested and is aesthetically similar to the UK stone ranges, and can be supplied from stock here in the UK.
