We're delighted that the CS Lewis Square has now been officially opened!

Tuesday 22nd November saw the grand opening of Belfast's new public space at the intersection of Connswater Greenway and Comber Greenway, which celebrates the life and literature of writer CS Lewis. Dancers and musicians performed live in the evening along with short film screenings and a grand finale of a snow machine transforming the area into a winter wonderland.

The square has a capacity for around 2,000 people for public events and features 7 impressive bronze sculptures from the writer's most famous books 'The Chronicles of Narnia'. Characters from 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe', Aslan, the wolf Maugrim, Mr and Mrs Beaver, the Robin, White Witch, Stone Table and Mr Tumnus, which have been created by Irish artist Maurice Harron were unveiled on Tuesday. Three hundred trees have also been planted along with brand new railway tracks, arches and pathways.

The area has been completely re-landscaped and we're more than thrilled to have supplied our Scottish Whinstone to the project for paving, steps, copings, kerbs, seating and wall cladding. We've been keeping our eye on the project the whole way through construction.

We worked with Landscape Architects The Paul Hogarth Company to supply the perfect natural stone for this regeneration, who then went on to win the Award for Sustainable Planning at the RTPI awards.

Contractor Farrans started work early in 2015 and have done a fantastic job of completing the project and laying our Whinstone. It all looks stunning and we can't wait to go and take some more pictures now the project is completely finished and open.
