The Kelpies at Helix Park is one of Scotland’s best known cultural landmarks and features two 300-tonne (98ft) horse-head sculptures created in the Helix canal-hub in Falkirk by award-winning artist Andy Scott.

Since its completion the site has won the prestigious Saltire Society (2014) Civil Engineering Award for its design, including the high-quality public realm that surrounds the sculptures – supplied by BBS Granite Concepts.

BBS Granite Concepts worked with Ironside Farrar and RJ McLeod throughout the project to enhance the public realm using various granites for paving, walls, seating and bespoke inlaid text into feature paving areas. As can be seen from the project images, the public realm is now made up of high quality materials and will be a welcoming public place for years to come.

BBS sourced granite has been used thoughout the Kelpie plaza & surrounding areas until reaching the canal edges. From the early planning stages, BBS assisted with natural stone material options, technical advice and support during construction.

The opening weekend event 'Home' in April 2014 welcomed 22,000 visitors to the Hub and marked completion of the final phase of The Helix Greenspace project. For more information please see the links below.
